July Update - 14 Jul 10Repeat clients P Bird & Sons through to second round of Anglian Water RFI / RFP
In January this year, long-standing clients of BPM requested some assistance with the completion of a tender for Anglian Water. P Bird & Sons are a steel fabrication company based in Milton Keynes and have worked with BPM's QS team on various projects over the past two years; this time it was the help of the tender writing team they required. P Bird had a tight deadline to meet on an RFI for Anglian Water, who were looking to find a new supplier to design, supply and install steel walkways and access systems. The RFI asked for information about the company structure and experience, details on the products produced, along with information on the company's quality and environmental policies. BPM successfully assisted P Bird through the first stage and were asked to help with the second stage - the RFP - which looked at the following areas:
· Capability and Quality
· Account Management
· How best value is passed to the customer
· Insurances
· Payment Terms
· Carbon Footprint
· Health & Safety
Having been given a two-day turnaround deadline, BPM's team worked with key staff to pull out the required information and draft this into a succinct yet detailed response. After consulting with the MD to ensure he was happy with the content BPM delivered the completed RFP before the required deadline, giving the client time to review before submitting to Anglian Water. BPM will find out in a few weeks if the client has successfully passed the second stage of the tender process.
Egypt trip with client provides change of scenery! An on-going project with one of our main clients, Aecom, has led to a recent trip to Cairo in Egypt for one member of the BPM team. Aecom is one of the largest and most respected providers of professional, technical and management support services in the world and has been a client of BPM for several years. Having worked on one of their projects to supply sewerage treatment equipment to 15 sites in Egypt from its early days, BPM have been providing Aecom with contractual advice throughout and made up one third of the team who recently returned from Cairo. The remit of the trip was to assess the current project situation, securing payment of any outstanding monies. Alongside the Project Manager and Mechanical Engineer Specialist, BPM provided the Commercial arm for the team, attending meetings between Aecom and their clients, visiting sites and acting as the contract administrator for all negotiations. The contract discussions are currently ongoing, however Aecom hope to settle the account in the forthcoming weeks.
BPM help clients increase tendering technical score WH Roads, a civil engineering contractor based in Southend-on-Sea, recently recruited BPM Group's bid writing experts to help them increase their quality scoring with local authority tenders. Their previous scores out of 40% were falling into the low twenties.
